  1. Educate your children about the dangers of sharing information online with strangers. Family members should talk in detail about privacy and the web.
  2. Place the computer in the living area of your home from where you can easily see the screen so you’ll have some idea about activities that children are doing on the computer including the websites they are visiting frequently.
  3. Orkut is an open social network – that means you can easily see who’s in the friends’ list of your children and what kind of text notes (or scraps) are they exchanging with each.

Step 1: Click the Start button and select Run. Now type the following text in that Run box:

Step 2: You will see a new notepad window on your screen containing some cryptic information. Don’t panic. Just goto the last line of the file, hit the enter key and type the following:

Save the file and exit. That’s it. None of the above sites will now open on your computer.
You can block as many websites as you like with the above technique. If you want to remove the ban later, open the same file as mentioned in Step 1 and delete the above lines.

How to Secure Your Wireless Network

The good news is that it is not very hard to make your wireless network secure, which will both prevent others from stealing your internet and will also prevent hackers from taking control of your computers through your own wireless network.
Here a few simple things that you should to secure your wireless network:

Step 1. Open your router settings page

First, you need to know how to access your wireless router’s settings. Usually you can do this by typing in “192.168.1.1” into your web browser, and then enter the correct user name and password for the router. This is different for each router, so first check your router’s user manual.
You can also use Google to find the manuals for most routers online in case you lost the printed manual that came with your router purchase. For your reference, here are direct links to the manufacturer’s site of some popular router brands – Linksys, Cisco, Netgear, Apple AirPort, SMC, D-Link, Buffalo, TP-LINK, 3Com, Belkin.

Step 2. Create a unique password on your router

Once you have logged into your router, the first thing you should do to secure your network is to change the default password* of the router to something more secure.
This will prevent others from accessing the router and you can easily maintain the security settings that you want. You can change the password from the Administration settings on your router’s settings page. The default values are generally admin / password.
[*] What do the bad guys use - This is a public database of default usernames and passwords of wireless routers, modems, switches and other networking equipment. For instance, anyone can easily make out from the database that the factory-default settings for Linksys equipment can be accessed by using admin for both username and password fields.

Step 3. Change your Network’s SSID name

The SSID (or Wireless Network Name) of your Wireless Router is usually pre-defined as “default” or is set as the brand name of the router (e.g., linksys). Although this will not make your network inherently* more secure, changing the SSID name of your network is a good idea as it will make it more obvious for others to know which network they are connecting to.
This setting is usually under the basic wireless settings in your router’s settings page. Once this is set, you will always be sure that you are connecting to the correct Wireless network even if there are multiple wireless networks in your area. Don’t use your name, home address or other personal information in the SSID name.

[*] What do the bad guys use - Wi-Fi scanning tools like inSSIDer (Windows) and Kismet (Mac, Linux) are free and they will allow anyone to find all the available Wireless Networks in an area even if the routers are not broadcasting their SSID name.

Step 4. Enable Network Encryption

In order to prevent other computers in the area from using your internet connection, you need to encrypt your wireless signals.
There are several encryption methods for wireless settings, including WEP, WPA (WPA-Personal), and WPA2 (Wi-Fi Protected Access version 2). WEP is basic encryption and therefore least secure (i.e., it can be easily cracked*, but is compatible with a wide range of devices including older hardware, whereas WPA2 is the most secure but is only compatible with hardware manufactured since 2006.
To enable encryption on your Wireless network, open the wireless security settings on your router’s configuration page. This will usually let you select which security method you wish to choose; if you have older devices, choose WEP, otherwise go with WPA2. Enter a passphrase to access the network; make sure to set this to something that would be difficult for others to guess, and consider using a combination of letters, numbers, and special characters in the passphrase.

A video on YouTube suggests that AirCrack may be easily used to break WiFi encryption using a jail-broken iPhone or an iPod Touch.

Step 5. Filter MAC addresses

Whether you have a laptop or a Wi-Fi enabled mobile phone, all your wireless devices have a unique MAC address (this has nothing to do with an Apple Mac) just like every computer connected to the Internet has a unique IP address. For an added layer of protection, you can add the MAC addresses of all your devices to your wireless router’s settings so that only the specified devices can connect to your Wi-Fi network.
MAC addresses are hard-coded into your networking equipment, so one address will only let that one device on the network. It is, unfortunately, possible to spoof a MAC address*, but an attacker must first know one of the MAC addresses of the computers that are connected to your Wireless network before he can attempt spoofing.
To enable MAC address filtering, first make a list of all your hardware devices that you want to connect to your wireless network**. Find their MAC addresses, and then add them to the MAC address filtering in your router’s administrative settings. You can find the MAC address for your computers by opening Command Prompt and typing in “ipconfig /all”, which will show your MAC address beside the name “Physical Address”. You can find the MAC addresses of Wireless mobile phones and other portable devices under their network settings, though this will vary for each device.
[*] What do the bad guys use - Someone can change the MAC address of his or her own computer and can easily connect to your network since your network allows connection from devices that have that particular MAC address. Anyone can determine the MAC address of your device wireless using a sniffing tool like Nmap and he can then change the MAC address of his own computer using another free tool like MAC Shift.

Step 6. Reduce the Range of the Wireless Signal

If your wireless router has a high range but you are staying in a small studio apartment, you can consider decreasing the signal range by either changing the mode of your router to 802.11g (instead of 802.11n or 802.11b) or use a different wireless channel.
You can also try placing the router under the bed, inside a shoe box or wrap a foil around the router antennas so that you can somewhat restrict the direction of signals.
Apply the Anti-Wi-Fi Paint – Researchers have developed a special Wi-Fi blocking paint that can help you stop neighbors from accessing your home network without you having to set up encryption at the router level. The paint contains chemicals that blocks radio signals by absorbing them. “By coating an entire room, Wi-Fi signals can’t get in and, crucially, can’t get out.”

Step 7. Upgrade your Router’s firmware

You should check the manufacturer’s site occasionally to make sure that your router is running the latest firmware. You can find the existing firmware version of your router using from the router’s dashboard at 192.168.*.

Connect to your Secure Wireless Network

To conclude, MAC Address filtering with WPA2 (AES) encryption (and a really complex passphrase) is probably the best way to secure your wireless network.
Once you have enabled the various security settings in your wireless router, you need to add the new settings to your computers and other wireless devices so that they all can connect to the Wi-Fi network. You can select to have your computer automatically connect to this network, so you won’t have to enter the SSID, passphrase and   other information every time you connect to the Internet.

What is HTML5?

HTML5 will be the new standard for HTML.
The previous version of HTML, HTML 4.01, came in 1999. The web has changed a lot since then.
HTML5 is still a work in progress. However, the major browsers support many of the new HTML5 elements and APIs.

How Did HTML5 Get Started?

HTML5 is a cooperation between the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) and the Web Hypertext Application Technology Working Group (WHATWG).
WHATWG was working with web forms and applications, and W3C was working with XHTML 2.0. In 2006, they decided to cooperate and create a new version of HTML.

#1 – Hacking Tutorial: Tech Tips and Hacking Tricks

Sometimes, perfect English isn’t everything. Hacking Tutorial is an example of when the writing skill of the author doesn’t necessarily equate to the quality of his or her technical knowledge. This is actually the case over at Hacking Tutorial, where the author offers articles like “Client Side Attack Using Adobe PDF Escape EXE Social Engineering”, “Exploiting MS11_003 Internet Explorer Vulnerability”, and “Hacking Using BeeF XSS Framework”.

The articles are usually short, but actually offer highly technical, step-by-step instructions on how to do the task at hand, and the tricks and tweets absolutely work, unless the exploit has been patched.  It’s a small blog, but it’s a good one for the volume of technical tricks that you’ll find there.

#2 – EvilZone Hacking Forums

While the name, EvilZone, isn’t exactly the most inviting – it is easily one of the largest forum communities that you’ll find on the subject of hacking. With over 13,042 members and over 50,000 posts (and counting), this community likely has the skills and knowledge to answer any programming question you could possibly have. Just be careful about coming across as a “noob” – these guys don’t handle newcomers with kid gloves, so be careful.

While I certainly don’t want to offer a nod to any blogs that may be considered competition, you really have to give credit where credit is due when it comes to a particular niche like hacking – and Hack a Day definitely offers an amazing library of information for anyone looking for specific categories like cellphones, GPS or digital cameras. Over the years, Hack A Day has transformed the site into a fairly popular blog.

Hack In The Box has really change significantly through the years. It is rebranded as HITB, and the site is completely transformed into what looks like a WordPressed-based platform. Still, today Hack In The Box remains focused on security and ethical hacking. However, it has obviously shifted gears at some point and changed to a more content-focused approach with a greater volume of news, and fewer in-depth articles with detailed hacks.

This transition makes it less of a place to go for actually technical hacking tips, and more of a daily spot to get your latest fix of hacking news. The site is updated frequently, and of course you can also go for the print version of the HITB-branded magazine if you want.

Clearly, HITB has gone very commercialized, but it is a great resource for news for anyone interested in the latest gossip throughout the hacking community.

As always, saving the best for last – I’d like to introduce Hack This Site! This website is one of the coolest, free programmer training sites where you can learn how to hack accepting one of the challenges along the left navigation pane of the main page.

The site designers offer various “missions,” where you need to figure out the vulnerability of a site and then attempt to use your new-found hacking skills (you’ve carefully studied all of the articles on the site, right?) to hack the web page. Missions include Basic, Realistic, Application, Programming and many others.

1. Move the Top Navigation

The top navigation is easily missed if left in its default state because it positions that menu above the site logo. To make it more visible you can move it over to the right hand side.

This CSS hack lets you change the header image of individual pages — so if for example you have a product page that needs its own special header, or if you want to give each page its own header image, you can use this code.

3. Center the Header Logo

5. Remove the Header Completely

It would be an unusual design choice to completely remove the header but it’s your site and you can do whatever you want. If you just want the navigation menus followed by the main body of the page, Canvas can easily oblige with this simple line of code.

6. Remove the Title from All Pages

At the very top of each page of your site in large header tags you’ll see the name of the page. That can be an unnecessary distraction when you are looking for a smooth transition from the header to the body text. So let’s remove them.

You may not want to remove the title from every page on your site. If you only need to remove the title from a specific page use the following code.

With the above 10 simple CSS hacks you can make the site look completely different from its default design. but if you want to dig a little deeper and customize your theme even further, you need to start using the functions.php file. By adding code here you can make fundamental changes to the structure and functionality of Canvas.
If you plan on adding code to the functions.php file then you should create a child theme. Child themes allow you to make all of these changes without editing the original Canvas files. 11. Widgetize the Header

The header in Canvas has an Advertising section that can be utilized, but if you want to have more control of that that area you should widgetize it. This will let you add almost anything into the right hand side of your header, giving you greater flexibility. You can do so by adding the following code to functions.php:

12. Remove the Primary or Top Navigation

Canvas comes with two navigation bars by default. You have the Top Navigation that is above your header and the Primary Navigation below the header. Not everyone needs (or wants) to use both.
You can just add an empty custom menu into that navigation slot, but that still leaves a block of space where a menu should be. Rather than leave that obvious space in the design, let’s remove the navigation bar completely.

13. Adding a Related Posts Area With Thumbnails to a Post

There are plugins that allow you to create an area after each post with related posts from your site. Canvas includes a rudimentary ‘related posts’ feature, if you require a simple solution. To create this area add this code to functions.php:

14. Create a Search Box in the Primary Navigation Bar

You can easily add a search box to your sidebar in Canvas but doing so takes up valuable space. Instead, let’s make use of the empty space on the right side of your navigation bar.
Before you add any code to make this change, you need to remove the RSS icon that’s currently there. Do this by going to Canvas > Theme Options > Style & Layout > Primary Navigation and unchecking the “Show Subscribe Link” box at the top of the page.

When the search box on your site is used the results are presented as a list of post excerpts. With this tweak, if there is only one result from that search, the reader will be taken directly into the post rather than being shown the excerpt.
This cuts down on unnecessary clicks for the reader and makes for a smoother experience.

Creating a fake ( Phishing ) page of gmail,facebook ,yahoo, myspace etc.

Phishing has become a very easy to use trick to hack usernames and passwords of users. Here demonstrate how to create a fake phishing page for almost any social networking site , email or any other site that has a login form.
For this trick you would need a hosting account , you can get that easily.
Register yourself at t35, host1free, 110mb etc.
Note- 110mb checks for phishing page on their site and removes them.
So now u have a hosting account so lets create a fake page-
First go to the target site. In your browser select Save As from the File menu and save the site on
 your hardisk with name "login.htm" .
or alternatively right click on the page and click "view source" and copy all of it and save them to a notepad file. Rename the file with "login.htm".
Now the second part of the hack-
Go to Notepad and copy this into it-

Replace facebook.com with the URL you want the user to go after he click on submit button.
Save the page as fish.php
Now you need to edit the "login.htm" file we save earlier. So go to that and open it with notepad.
now search for any htm like "action=" which has something with login. And replace the URL with "fish.php".
Also create a blank txt file with name "log.txt". This file would be used to save your logins and passwords.
Now you are done,
Go to your hosting account and upload all the files to your server.
Now go to the URL provided by your host.
Like - http://g00glepage.t35.com/login.htm
And you would see the fake page as it is.
Now enter the username and password.
Check the log.txt file. The password and username you entered previously would be saved in the log.txt file.
Here you have a working phishing page
